Joan A. Wackell, Owner
Joan's marketing career spans twenty years. She has extensive experience in strategic planning, corporate identity and branding, advertising, public affairs and public relations, community relations, crisis and issues management, direct mail, marketing communications, marketing consulting and project management.
As a public relations consultant, she provided marketing leadership and strategic direction that led to a successful year-long centennial celebration for Worcester Art Museum. Later, as director of marketing and senior officer at the museum, she developed a marketing campaign and team with remarkable results: direction and marketing support for a blockbuster exhibition that significantly increased museum attendance and membership, captured several first place awards for graphic creative excellence, and received print and television media coverage in the United States, Greece, Italy, England and France. Joan also developed a plan for the website project and managed a redesign that resulted in a visually vibrant and dynamic marketing tool.
"Never give up" became her mantra as Chair of the Millbury Public Library Building Committee. In a seven year effort, she shaped the strategic direction that overcame major obstacles, including early negative taxpayer resistance and financial support. Four hundred thousand ($400,000) was raised in individual and corporate donations and state grants totaling $1.3 million were awarded for the project. Ultimately, the town and its residents received a newly renovated and expanded facility which has since become a great source of pride to the community.
Earlier in her career, as director of public affairs with the former Paul Revere Insurance Company, Joan developed a crisis management and communications manual, a media training program and an emergency procedures manual.
Since founding Maestro Strategic Marketing, Joan has developed strategic marketing and public relations plans, and provided marketing consultations for law firms, medical offices, a retail business, insurance and financial-related professionals and others.
